The police showed up to Alayna’s apartment after she called about him trying to break into her apartment, apparently trying to kill her. They couldn’t immediately find him so they took a report and left. He came back 30 minutes later, broke in through a 4th floor window and murdered my daughter. The NYPD will say that they just don’t have the manpower to leave an officer on site for a half hour. The cops didn’t make sure that she was safe. They didn’t make sure she left the apartment, went to a neighbors or friends house where she would be safe until they caught him. They didn’t continue looking for this known violent perpetrator who had violated a protective order every day since it was instated. This video shows maybe 20 cops standing around chatting after the fact, like they’re on break or paid time off. To protect and serve?!? I think not. It should say “To show up afterward, fill out a report, hang around and chat, maybe have a cup of coffee.”
